Employability skills are transferable core skill groups that represent essential functional and enabling knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by the 21st century workplace. They are necessary for career success at all levels of employment and for all levels of education.
What skills do employers want? How do these skills match those that youth and adults are developing through their college studies and experiences? How can education and training programs prepare individuals to enter a rapidly changing workplace? These and other questions are continuously examined by our team of professionals. We explore skills currently needed for employment. We have been investigating, for the last couple of years, the evolving topic of employability skills.
Highly skilled, adaptive blend of technical and human relations ability are recognized by employers as the primary competitive edge. Job-specific technical skills in a given field are no longer sufficient as employers scramble to fill an increasing number of interdependent jobs. Soft & Behavioural Skills:
Training is one of the best investments an organization can make for itself and its employees. Regular training programs not only add to the skills set of its people thereby improving their job competence, they also aid in increasing job satisfaction resulting in greater growth for the organization which helps it stay ahead in today’s competitive world.
Getting results in business is both an art and science. While technical skills form the science , it is the soft and behavioral skills that form the art.
It’s often questioned if soft skills really matter if you are extraordinary at the technical aspects of your job? The answer is ‘ABSOLUTELY’.
Both sets of skills (hard and soft) are required; you are certainly not going to be successful in your job interview or at work with one set without the other.
Although technical Skills have always ruled the roost, in this globalized and continuously changing world, "soft skills" are gaining equal importance. It's not enough to be highly trained only in hard skills, without developing the softer, relationship-building skills.
The best way to put it is ‘It’s the hard skills that get you through the interview but you need soft skills to keep your job”.
